For those who don’t know me I am a retired Quantity Surveyor turned writer.
The biggest difference I think most QS’s will recognise is the need to conduct site visits for valuations, site meetings, visiting clients,etc.
My car was an essential tool of the trade. (Today Liverpool, tomorrow Glasgow.) Now my car does very few miles.
Did I enjoy being a surveyor?
Yes, most certainly. Although there are nasty moments, (like nearly falling off a scaffold), I enjoyed my job but it could be stressful at times. Hitting deadlines was the main problem.
Am I regretting retiring?”
Not at all.
I ‘m enjoying my new life an author. In the old days there was the panic phone call, “We have a problem, can we meet on site!”
Now, my main hobby has now become a way of life and I can control the hours that I work. (Is it work if you enjoy doing it?)
